I do have the spare switch, the one we upgraded. Auto Block is turned on, but if an IP was blocked, I'd think I would see that in the log.

Connect a PC and just the NAS to a spare switch (if you have one) and confirm you can access and ping then add this spare switch to the new firewall (if you can) and see if it will still let you ping/connect.Thanks for your suggestions.Īllow access was already selected (going to have to fix that when this is resolved). Have you tried disabling the NAS firewall just to see what happens? At the bottom of the Firewall tab, select "Allow access" for the "IF no rules are matched" condition.ĭo you have Auto Block turned on? If there are more than x incorrect login attempts it will block the IP for a period of time or forever depending on your settings.īarring any of those, I would try to work my way from the Synology out into the network. I've also checked the firewall on the problem NAS today and there is nothing being blocked. Thanks guys.Ĭould there be an IP address conflict? Bad network cable? However, I'm sure it won't be long until it crops up again so any suggestions would be great. I just finally rebooted it so I can get in for backups tonight and over the weekend. Just to see, I added my machine's IP to the Allow list but that didn't change anything.

I've checked the DNS entries and they are correct for both NAS. I've also used the Synology Assistant which recognizes the configuration info of the NAS (IP, server name, MAC, model etc) but just fails to connect. Resources on the NAS are normal, nothing useful in the logs. However, I'm able to ping it and connect to it from my AD/File Server. Today, NAS2 has been unpingable from my machine and others here. Both upgrades in terms of specs and throughput. This week, for different reasons, we replaced an old D-Link switch with a Cisco Catalyst 2960s and our firewall from a NetGear to a ZyZel USG60W. This has been going on for weeks and Synology says its not the NAS, and must be a network problem. However, I lose the ability to ping or connect to one or both NAS intermittently. The idea is for NAS1 to be the primary destination for all backups, and ynchronize that information to NAS2. Most innovation starts as "stupid computer tricks" before monetization allows me to offload stuff onto others.I have two Synology RS2414RP+ in my LAN. I'm not a devops person, I'm a creative whose main concerns are workflow and time saved.

I'm a single dev running an Android app with a multiplayer backend and I'm trying to consolidate my working environment into as efficient a space as I can to save time and keep the momentum going.

Yeah, I could run a Windows 10 VM and configure the interfaces from there with Putty and Filezilla, it just doesn't fill my heart with joy. Sure, I could run another VPN client from another device and make another configuration for an SSH interface to connect to the console, but it moves me outside an efficient UI. From that DSM, file station connects via SFTP to my servers inside a neat UI with the ability to edit scripts and the only thing missing is an interface from which to execute commands. Because I have a virtual DSM machine running with a VPN connection to my Digital Ocean Server cluster.
